‘Heroes of the Game’: MLB baseball will have some anime this season
Major League Baseball is embracing geek culture, and we can’t get enough of it.

It’s rare for MeriStation to cover MLB, but this offseason has been a thrill for fans who love baseball, anime, and video games alike. While we’re still awaiting details about the MLB’s collaboration with Demon Slayer, the league has unveiled a brand-new anime-inspired campaign.
With Opening Day just around the corner, excitement is building. We’ve already seen Pikachu at the ballpark during the Tokyo Series, and the majors previously revealed a partnership with Kimetsu no Yaiba. Now, there’s even more to come to the big leagues.
Though not technically an anime, MLB is collaborating with some of the world’s top anime artists to depict the most iconic moments of the 2025 season. The campaign, titled ‘Heroes of the Game,’ kicks off with a video featuring four MLB superstars: Shohei Ohtani, Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, and Paul Skenes.
According to an MLB press release: “Videos for other players are being developed that will incorporate live action with animation in response to big moments during the season.” In the closing image, many other big names can be seen.
The project brings together renowned artists who have contributed to legendary anime series like One Piece and Fullmetal Alchemist. Directed by Hiroshi Shimizu, this campaign promises to make waves. And as if Nintendo’s logo on the Mariners uniforms wasn’t exciting enough, Opening Day looks set to deliver even more thrilling surprises.
