Play ball! Pokéball? Pikachu was sighted at the Tokyo Series

Pokémon took over the pre-game show of the first match between Dodgers and Cubs at the Tokyo Dome.

Pokemon MLB Pikachu Tokyo Series

After Demon Slayer announced a crossover with Major League Baseball that included a short movie about Kimetsu no Yaiba and the baseball history of Japan, this Tuesday the Tokyo Series finally kicked off, where the Los Angeles Dodgers secured their first win of the season against the Cubs on a Tokyo Dome that amongst other monsters, had Pikachu in their midst.

In the pre-game show, with the phrase “Monster meets Monster”, the Tokyo Dome went dark, to then find a little boy standing between a couple of Pikachus in the pitching mound and holding a pokéball. As he wound up to throw, the park went dark again, to show a video about “MLB Monsters” coming to Japan.

This video featured American legends, such as Babe Ruth, and Ken Griffey Jr. Then some Japanese like Hideki Matsui and Ichiro Suzuki, to end with the current MLB monster: Shohei Ohtani, among other great Japanese players.

Then, the teams came on to the field and were presented, and also compared to different pokémon, after which some giant Pikachus also came about and started roaming the field with their cute faces.

After that it was time for baseball, after a few more moving ceremonial acts. Although Spring Training is still ongoing, both of the Tokyo Series games count towards the Cubs' and Dodgers' regular season records.
