How many gaming consoles and accessories you can buy instead of the Apple Vision Pro

Apple unveiled its latest and most innovative piece of hardware. While amazing, the price tag makes us wonder what else we could be spending on.

Apple surprised us this morning during its presentation at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference 2023. While the new models of Macs, MacBooks and updates to their operating systems were great announcements that will make fans of the brand very happy, it was the unveiling of the Apple Vision Pro, its augmented reality device, that caught our attention the most. With cutting-edge technology that seeks to expand everything we know about AR, its price tag is what left us cold. $3499 is an extremely high price, which while understandable for everything it does, creates a huge barrier between the product and the majority of end users.

But what is $3499? Certainly, we are dealing with a gadget that, although it is a spearhead in terms of entertainment and work, this money could be used for other things. On this occasion, we present some options focused on gaming where you could take advantage of this budget, taking into account pre-tax prices.

Gaming for everyone

Let’s start with what we like the most, video games. With the $3500 budget, we could arm ourselves with these packages:

All consoles:

If you already have a good TV that meets the requirements of the current generation of consoles, you could get all 3 consoles plus some extras:

  • 1 PlayStation 5
  • 1 Xbox Series X
  • Nintendo Switch OLED
  • One year subscription for each console (PlayStation Plus Premium, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass)
  • 1 additional controller for each console (DualSense, Xbox Controller, Nintendo Switch Pro Controller + Joy-Con)
  • 12 $70 games
  • 1 PlayStation VR 2

Total: $3,369

PC Gaming Handhelds

And we are not talking about gaming laptops, we are talking about these devices for PC gaming on the go. For starters, we can not leave aside the Valve handheld, although it is quite complicated to get one of these consoles, we could buy:

  • 5 Steam Decks in 512GB NVMe SSD version
  • And $250 worth of games

On the other hand, we have the Asus ROG Ally, which arrives on June 13th and tries to compete with Valve’s device with a higher price. Taking this into account, we could buy it:

  • 5 Asus ROG Ally
  • This is where we run out of money for games.

You could build a computer with that

This sentence is true now more than ever. And we know that the PC Master Race can be extremely expensive, and we could build an even more expensive computer. With this budget, we managed to put together a computer for $3485.83. This is our setup:

  • CPU: Intel Core i9 13900K 3 GHz
  • CPU Cooler: Asus ROG STRIX LC II ARGB 80.95 CFM
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte B760 AORUS ELITE AX ATX
  • RAM: G.SKill Trident Z5 RGB 64 GB (2 x 32GB) DDR5-6000
  • Storage: Samsung 980 Pro 1 TB M.2-2280 + Samsun 980 Pro 2TB M.2.2280
  • Video Card: Gigabyte EAGLE OC GeForce RTX 4070 Ti
  • Case: InWin 101 ATX Mid Tower
  • Power Supply: Apex AG-M 850 W 80+
  • Monitor: Samsung Odyssey G7 28″ 144 Hz 3840 x 2160
  • Operative System: Microsoft Windows 11 Home
  • Keyboard: Razer BlackWidow V3
  • Mouse: Razer DeathAdder V3
  • Speakers: Razer Leviathan V2
