How to play Sea of Thieves on consoles and PC: How Cross-Play Works

‘Sea of Thieves’ has arrived in the world of PlayStation 5 as part of Microsoft’s move to bring its titles to other platforms. For some months now, we already knew that this installment would not only try to reach a new console but also mix the seas across platforms with its cross-play. But now that the game has arrived, it’s time to see how you can play with your friends on other platforms.

How to use cross-play in Sea of Thieves on PS5, Xbox and PC

One of the dreams of Mike Chapman, Creative Director of the game, was the possibility of a pirate crew, between Xbox, Windows, Steam, and now PlayStation 5, to play on the same ship without any problem, and finally, that day has come.

The method is very simple, once you have chosen the type of adventure, the size of your crew, and the sea you want to play in, all you have to do is choose your crew members, who are your friends on Xbox, PlayStation, or PC.

This is because the first time you launch Sea of Thieves on PlayStation 5, you will be prompted to merge your PS account with a Microsoft account, so now players on PS5 will be able to see their Xbox friends list, and Xbox users will be able to see players of Sea of Thieves who are on PlayStation 5.

There is also an option to restrict who you can play with. In the cross-play settings, you can choose whether you want to play with controllers only, controllers and mouse, or both.
