Insomniac Confirms Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Will Not Feature Co-Op Multiplayer

Miles Morales’ voice actor teases co-op multiplayer in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and Insomniac denies it, promising a single-player adventure.

Nadji Jeter, the voice actor who brings Miles Morales to life in Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Spider-Man games, stopped by a podcast yesterday and seemed to hint that the next game in the series would feature a co-op multiplayer, a piece of unconfirmed information that caught fans by surprise. Had Jeter already revealed what we would see of the title at this week’s PlayStation Showcase?

The answer is no. Insomniac has taken less than 24 hours to clear up any doubts. Through social media, the developer has confirmed that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will not feature cooperative multiplayer and will be an “epic single-player adventure”. The idea of swinging through New York with a friend had seduced some, but the community did not have it all and has welcomed with open arms the news that we should expect an experience similar to the original.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, star of the PlayStation Showcase

We are just hours away from the PlayStation Showcase, and all signs point to Insomniac’s game being the company’s main attraction for the event. Sony has repeatedly said that it will be released in 2023, making it one of the most important PS5 releases of the year, but the truth is that we still don’t have too much information about it. We have barely been told that there will be no co-op, that Peter Parker and Miles Morals will be part of the story, and that Venom will be the villain. Nothing more, although knowing its creators, they surely have more than one surprise for us along the way. Fortunately, they will start revealing them in a few hours.

How big is the graphical leap from the first Marvel’s Spider-Man? Will the side missions be improved? Will the multiverse show its little head? There’s a lot of questions and a lot of hype for Sony’s spearhead for 2023.
