Is ‘Spider-Noir’ connected to Sony’s Spider-Verse movies?
‘Spider-Noir’ is coming to Prime Video starring Nicolas Cage, but many fans are wondering if it’s related to the Spider-Verse movies. The answer is clear, and we’ll explain it without spoilers.

‘Spider-Noir’ is about to land on Prime Video, boasting a lead character played by Nicolas Cage and the ever-charismatic Spider-Man universe. Even though it’s set in an alternate universe, fans are eager to learn more about a character born from the minds of David Hine, Fabrice Sapolsky, and Carmine Di Giandomenico. But as we know, in Marvel everything is connected, and the concept of the Multiverse has made anything possible—even Spider-Man meeting practically all of his versions in the animated Spiderverse series. So, does Spider-Noir have any connection to these fantastic films? We’ll tell you without spoilers.
Well, not exactly. Nicolas Cage indeed voices Spider-Man Noir in ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ (2018) and its sequel, ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ (2023), but they’re actually two different characters. This is because the series isn’t actually 100% faithful to the ‘Spider-Man Noir’ story; instead, it takes a few liberties. The first is that while Cage plays an alternate version of Peter Parker in the Sony films, in ‘Spider-Noir’, the protagonist is Ben Reilly.

In the comics and Sony Pictures films, Reilly is a clone of Peter Parker created by Miles Warren (the Jackal), whose name is derived from Uncle Ben and Aunt May’s maiden name. He would later become the Scarlet Spider, eventually replacing Parker and believing himself to be the real Spider-Man. On the other hand, in ‘Spider-Noir,’ Ben Reilly is a private investigator whose origin story is very different from that of the original.
So, even though the basic concept is the same, the Spider-Man from ‘Spider-Noir’ has absolutely nothing to do with the one Cage plays in the Spider-Verse. In fact, we could easily describe the TV series as something completely separate from everything else: not just from these movies, but of course, from the MCU as well.
