James Gunn posts his best Instagram photo in 13 years alongside the new Superman and Lois
The director behind the next Man of Steel movie celebrates Superman Day with the protagonists of Superman.
Superman, one of the most important superheroes in the world along with others like Batman and Spider-Man, recently turned 86 years old since his first appearance in the comics. It is because of it that James Gunn, director of the next ‘Superman’ movie in the DCU, wanted to celebrate such an important date with the protagonists of the new film, David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, through a photograph in which they appear reading three key comics from the character’s history. And at the same time they revealed the actress who will play Martha Kent in the new movie: Neva Howell, known for her roles in ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ and ‘Logan Lucky’.
Three key Superman comics for its 86th anniversary
Superman is celebrating his 86th anniversary since its first appearance in the first issue of ‘Action Comics’, on April 18, 1938, by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster. James Gunn, who is currently filming a new Superman film, has shared a photograph in which he appears with David Corenswet (Superman) and Rachel Brosnahan (Lois), all of them with three key superhero comics in their hands.
James Gunn holds the first edition of ‘Superman’, while David Corenswet is browsing ‘Action Comics 114′ and Rachel Brosnahan is reading ‘All-Star Superman’. “On this day in 1938, the first superhero entered our atmosphere through the imaginations of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, who gave us someone to believe in, not because of his great physical power, but because of his character and determination to do good no matter what. “Happy Superman Day to all of you!”James Gunn wrote in his Instagram post.
The role of Clark’s mother has been filled
On the other hand, it’s just been confirmed that actress Neva Howell will be Martha Kent, the adoptive mother of Clark and wife of Jonathan Kent, whose actor was also confirmed recently. Known for her roles in ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ and ‘Logan Lucky’, Neva Howell picks up the baton of other previous actresses in the same role, such as Phyllis Thaxter in ‘Superman: The Movie’, from 1978, Eva Marie Saint in ‘Superman Returns’ (2006) and Diane Lane in ‘Man of Steel’ (2013).
