James McCaffrey, the unforgettable voice of Max Payne, has died at the age of 65 after a long illness. Damned cancer, which takes so much from us, has taken away a person of enormous talent, who in a career of more than two decades as a voice actor in the video game industry, but also as an actor since his debut in 1988, gave us performances to remember, participating in several films and television series such as ‘American Splendor’ or ‘Rescue Me’, among many others.

The character that will always be with him and for which we will always remember him is Max Payne, an unforgettable voice in a legendary game that knew how to get to the perfect moment thanks to its bullet time and an adult narrative that held nothing back. Film noir at its best, action-packed and pure thriller, where McCaffrey’s voice was the perfect voice to get you into the game.

This 2023 gave us one of his most memorable performances as Alan Wake 2 featured with the figure of James McCaffrey among the cast of voice actors. Always associated with Remedy Entertainment, this time he took on the role of Alex Casey, Saga Anderson’s partner in the FBI, giving us such memorable and captivating performances as the one below.

An unforgettable voice for the video game industry

In a video game industry that does nothing but grow year after year and have a greater impact in all the fields that are proposed, there are many voices that remain in our minds. James McCaffrey entered it thanks to Max Payne, participating in all the games of the saga, but being part of something unexpected, as it was the great success of a previously unknown Finnish company that has done nothing but stand out since the already distant year 2001, when Max Payne was released.
