John Marston’s voice actor fuels the rumor flame, and all signs point to Red Dead Redemption
John Marston’s voice actor has revealed that he got news while playing the first game.
Red Dead Redemption is one of those franchises that, as a gamer, one simply can’t ignore. The old west adventure that Rockstar Games introduced us to several years ago has managed to consolidate itself with two titles that pushed consoles to the limit, thanks to its impressive story and overwhelming level of detail. A possible remastering of the second installment has been rumored for some time now, and recent comments by Rob Wiethoff - John Marston’s voice - have only fanned the flame of hope.
“I cannot think about anything else”
During a recent livestream, in which he was playing Red Dead Redemption, Wiethoff made a very vague mention of something that would be happening soon: “I can’t share it with you now. It’s absolutely killing me,” said Wiethoff. “I can’t wait for you to know what’s going on. And that’s all I can say. I cannot think about anything else. Especially playing this game [Red Dead Redemption]. I can’t think of anything else,” he added.
Although he didn’t reveal any specific details, his words add to a growing list of possible clues about the future of the franchise. Just a few days ago, Roger Clark - Arthur Morgan’s voice in Red Dead Redemption 2 - was interviewed and commented that a remaster of the game “is something that we can write off for the future.”
The most recent rumors point to a possible remaster that would bring the Red Dead Redemption 2 experience to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and even Nintendo Switch 2. Although the title can already be played on the new consoles through backward compatibility, its arrival on the successor to Nintendo’s hybrid console could be a showcase of the technical power of the new portable generation, as well as a way to provide continuity after the re-release of the first Red Dead Redemption on Switch a couple of years ago.
For now, we can only wait. Maybe Wiethoff’s comments are directly related to Red Dead Redemption, or maybe it’s a different project. But for fans of the series, hope is more alive than ever.
