John Wick 5 is already underway, according to the Lionsgate president
The next entry for the John Wick universe, the Keanu Reeves action movie series about a hitman forced out of retirement, is now confirmed to be in development.
The ending of ‘John Wick 4′ took many by surprise, but it is even more surprising to know that there is a fifth installment in the works. This was confirmed by Joe Drake, president of the production company Lionsgate (via comicbook.com), who during the presentation of the company’s quarterly results highlighted that ‘John Wick 5′ is a reality and that its production has resumed after the end of the strike of Hollywood screenwriters.
“We started to work on (it) right when the writer’s strike started and we’ve gotten back to work as soon as it ended,” Drake says. A series that never stops going from hit to hit, that delights action movie fans and that aims to have a bright future ahead with multiple series and a new movie in development.
The outstanding future of the ‘John Wick’ saga
The end of the fourth installment of ‘John Wick’ made most fans of the saga think that there would not be a fifth film, but with this one already in the works, action movies are in luck and will have more about the popular character. The world of assassins started by the work starring Keanu Reeves continues to release constant hits, with prequel series such as ‘The Continental’ standing out and being a success.
Chad Stahelski, director of the movies, spoke in an interview about all of the projects that were underway. Highlighting that there would be two new ‘John Wick’ tv series, with one of them being an anime, so the popular character will have an animated adaptation in the purest Japanese style, something that is not strange to Keanu Reeves, since ‘Animatrix’ was something similar in 2003 within the Matrix universe of which he was the protagonist playing Neo.
