Ballerina, the John Wick spin-off with Ana de Armas, gets a release date

The John Wick franchise will continue with a spin-off movie called Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas and Norman Reedus, and now it’s got a release date.

Update:
Ballerina

We already have a date for the next movie in the John Wick universe! It has just been confirmed that the spin-off, called Ballerina and starring Ana de Armas, will be released in theaters around the world next year, more specifically on June 7, 2024.

“Ballerina starts by introducing a character who kind of went through some of the same training as John in the ballet academy of Anjelica Huston[’s character] that we see in the third movie,” explained Shay Hatten, one of its screenwriters. “But then she ends up going to a whole new corner of the world and a new kind of isolated community that really is unlike anything we’ve seen in these previous John Wick movies.”

A few weeks ago it was confirmed that Keanu Reeves will be present in Ballerina and from what Hatten himself has commented, not for a cameo. “Well, I shouldn’t say too much, but he’s in the movie in a way that I think people are going to be really excited by. And it was cool because it really was... the only reason we set it between three and four was because it felt like there was kind of a cool window of time for John there, because at the end of the third movie, he’s been shot off the roof. He’s really kind of beaten up, and then he recuperates in the Bowery King’s basement.”

But Reeves will not be the only surprise, since it is also known that the now sadly departed Lance Reddick will make a special appearance and that one of the stars of the cast will be the beloved Norman Reedus (Daryl in The Walking Dead, or Sam Porter in Death Stranding).

And given the success of John Wick 4, it’s already been revealed that John Wick 5 is back on the table even with the closed end of the current installment. Lionsgate is delighted with the production numbers and has urged Keanu and the rest of the team to consider even more sequels.
