‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ bids farewell to its sequel after only six months, but several spin-offs are already in the works
Gege Akutami’s work closes a new and successful chapter.

‘Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo’ is now history. The direct sequel to Jujutsu Kaisen has come to an end after 25 chapters, putting an end to a stage that began on September 8 and concluded just half a year later. During this time, the series established itself as a success for Shonen Jump, reinforcing the idea that the name Gege Akutami continues to be synonymous with impact within the manga industry.
Written by Akutami and illustrated by Yuji Iwasaki, ‘Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo’ sets its story 68 years after the events of the original work. This sequel introduced new characters and species, further expanding a universe that has proven to have enormous scope for narrative expansion. With its conclusion, the inevitable question arises: what does the future hold for Jujutsu Kaisen? In the short term, the answer lies in several spin-off projects that are already in development.

Novels to expand the Jujutsu Kaisen universe
These new spin-offs, announced months ago, will come in the form of novels and will be written by Yumeaki Hirayama, a Japanese author renowned for his work in the horror genre.
This choice is particularly consistent with the tone of Jujutsu Kaisen. Hirayama’s experience, responsible for works such as Diner and Tokyo Psycho, points to a more literary and darker approach that can enrich the franchise’s background. Some of his novels have also been adapted for film, reinforcing his profile as a versatile storyteller.
