Konami doesn’t rule out new Metal Gear Solid remakes, but don’t expect them anytime soon
We still don’t have a release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, but Konami is giving its reasons for upcoming remakes of the series.
After the departure of Hideo Kojima from Konami about 9 years ago, the Metal Gear Solid franchise was at a standstill. Despite this, the company has not let the brand die as such, and among the next products to be seen, we will have the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, which aims to be a title that will respect much of the original work. Along with the collection that arrived last year, this opens the possibility that even if we do not see anything new in the history of Solid Snake or Big Boss, we can have past installments in the form of remakes. Although Konami hasn’t ruled it out, we don’t have to wait too long.
Konami talks about why a remake of Metal Gear Solid 1 is not coming soon
In an interview with Famitsu, (translated by Genki on X) Noriaki Okamura, producer of Metal Gear Solid, talked about the possibility of seeing more remakes of the series, not only of the Solid series, but also of the two original titles in the franchise. In response, the producer mentioned that they could not do it in the same way as Metal Gear Solid Delta, because they would have to create many new parts, while Delta is a one-for-one remake with very few changes.
However, this does not mean that Konami is not looking to move the franchise forward, but rather to preserve the legacy of the series. “Before everyone who was involved in the original is gone, we need to create a path to preserve the Metal Gear series for 10 or 50 years into the future,” Okamura said. “I think this is something we have to do.”
Metal Gear Solid 3 Delta, a visual delight
In our Metal Gear Solid Delta preview, our own Vladimir Arteaga wrote: “The Unreal Engine 5 has given an incredible look to the jungles, forests, and swamps we saw, in fact, the textures, animation of facial expressions, and especially the lighting effects are overwhelming, a delight for those who love graphics. However, it has a performance mode and graphics in 4K that runs with a minimum native resolution of 1440 at 30 FPS.”
