New ‘God of War’ report hints at Season 2 and a ‘Ragnarök’ adaptation before either is confirmed
Amazon is reportedly searching for older actors as the live-action series prepares for the next chapter of Kratos’ Norse saga.
The ‘God of War’ TV series has undergone some changes in recent weeks, and it seems there are more to come. According to a new report, Ryan Hurst may not be the only actor to leave the series in the future, as Prime Video’s adaptation of the Norse saga featuring Kratos could see another cast change ahead of Season 2.
According to a report by Mp1st, Season 2 of the series will feature new actors playing Atreus and Thrud. Season 1 will feature Callum Vinson as Atreus, while Island Austin plays Thrud. However, due to the time jump in God of War: Ragnarok, the production is now looking for actors between the ages of 14 and 17, rather than the 9- to 12-year-olds cast in the first season.
Although Amazon has not yet officially confirmed that the second season will adapt the events of God of War Ragnarök, the leak reinforces the theory that the series will follow the same narrative order as the Santa Monica Studio saga, with a first season based on the 2018 reboot and a second season focused on the events of the acclaimed conclusion to the Norse saga.
Who are Atreus and Thrud in God of War?
Atreus and Thrud are two of the most important characters in the Norse-themed God of War series. The former, Kratos’s son, accompanies him throughout God of War (2018) and evolves from an inexperienced boy into a pivotal figure in the fate of the Nine Realms, while Thrud, Thor’s daughter, takes on a much more significant role in God of War: Ragnarök as one of the young figures destined to shape the future following the conflict among the gods.

A couple of weeks ago, it was announced that Hurst would be leaving the show, as he is recovering from a bicep tear that could take up to a year to heal. With four episodes already filmed, Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television are reportedly already looking for a replacement to reshoot those scenes.
