One Piece

One of the saddest days in ‘One Piece’ history is coming, and the reason is pretty simple

‘One Piece’ anime goes on break, June 15 marks a tough wait for fans.

One Piece

One Piece fans are in for a disappointing surprise: the anime is taking a two-week break, starting June 15. This pause comes at a critical moment in the Egghead arc, where the story is finally diving deep into Kuma’s tragic backstory and revealing key details about God Valley’s past events.

Why is the anime taking a break?

Instead of a new episode, fans will get a recap special hosted by Tony Tony Chopper, titled Dr. Chopper’s Adventure Checkup - The Life Crossroads of Close Friends. This special will summarize the events leading up to the current arc, particularly highlighting major character decisions that shaped the series. While recap episodes are common in long-running anime, they rarely land well... especially when the story is at such an intense turning point.

How long is the delay?

With this break, Episode 1134, originally expected on June 22, will now air on June 29. This episode will continue the Egghead arc, pushing toward the climax of the confrontation between the Straw Hat Pirates, Marines, and Vegapunk’s mysterious revelations.

While this break may be frustrating, fans can still keep up with the manga, as Chapter 1152 is set to release on June 25, providing new story developments for those eager to move forward.

How does this affect the pacing of the anime?

This delay comes at a pivotal time, where ‘One Piece’ is entering its Final Saga and reaching major narrative moments that fans have anticipated for years. The Egghead arc plays a huge role in setting up the next phase of the story, particularly with the revelations about Joy Boy, the Ancient Kingdom, and the ultimate fate of Kuma.

A break at this stage could mean:

  • Smoother animation – This pause may allow the production team more time to polish upcoming episodes.
  • Better pacing adjustments – Avoiding rushed storytelling, ensuring proper development of key moments.
  • Possible filler setup – The break could signal anime-exclusive material, though nothing has been confirmed.

While the break is frustrating, ‘One Piece’ fans still have plenty to look forward to, as the anime ramps up toward the Egghead arc’s climax and the Final Saga unfolds. Until then, Chopper’s recap special will tide fans over, giving a chance to reflect on the choices and sacrifices made by beloved characters throughout the journey.
