Outlaw Keycard in Fortnite: How to get them all to buy exotic weapons on the black markets
The Outlaw Keycards are arriving in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 as one of the major new additions. We will tell you how to get them all by completing their quests and what benefits they bring us.
The Outlaw Keycard in Fortnite is one of the great additions of Chapter 6, Season 2. Possessing it makes us members of the Outlaws, an “exclusive club” with certain advantages, such as access to the back rooms of the Black Markets, where we can get weapons of exotic rarity. Upgrading these cards is also useful for progressing in the season’s story quests.
How do I get the Outlaw Keycard in Fortnite and what is it for?
The Outlaw Keycard in Fortnite is a new item used to unlock various benefits and advantages in the game’s Black Markets. It is a new addition that fits with this season’s theme of thieves, outlaws, and criminals. The quests to get it were automatically unlocked for all players after completing a community quest that involved raiding multiple vaults.
You might have to play a game of any game mode first for Fortnite to count this milestone as passed and give us the first quest. Once completed, we will receive the initial Outlaw Keycard and we can upgrade it by completing quests. We can check our progress in the “Outlaw Keycard” tab in the Quests section.
Broadly speaking, the Outlaw Keycards are used to enter the back rooms of the Black Markets, where we can access exclusive weapons, items, and services as we increase their level/rarity.
Remember that the Outlaw Keycards are not a physical object as such, and it is always added to a “separate slot” of the inventory. This means that we can never lose it, and we always “carry” it with us when we start each game.
Where are the Black Markets in Fortnite?
Outlaw Keycards are used in Fortnite’s Black Markets to gain access to the back rooms of each of these locations. These are their locations:
- In the southern part of Magic Mosses (Joss Black Market).
- North of Crime City (Skillet’s Black Market)
- Northeast of Masked Meadows (Keisha’s Black Market)
Access to the back room of each black market allows us to purchase weapons of exotic rarity not found elsewhere on the map, which can give us a significant advantage in our games.
Note that the exotic weapons are not sold in exchange for gold, but for the new Dill Bits. The easiest way to get them is to raid the vaults, which are located at various points around the map:
- Crime City Bank
- Masked Meadows Bank
- Seaport City Bank
- Lonewolf Lair Vault
How to upgrade the Outlaw Keycard in Fortnite
In order to upgrade the Outlaw Keycard in Fortnite, once we have the initial common rarity, we need to complete certain Quests that require us to perform certain tasks. This is a “double unlock”: on the one hand, we have to complete quests that are divided into several phases, and once we have completed enough of them, a new quest will be unlocked that, once completed, will grant us the card of the next rarity. The common card is upgraded to uncommon, then to rare, then to epic, and finally to legendary.
These are the benefits each Outlaw Keycard provides, depending on its rarity:
- Common Outlaw Keycard (white/gray): This is the starting card. We can’t really do anything with it directly, but having it is the basic step to improving it and accessing more advanced benefits. It is obtained automatically.
- Uncommon Outlaw Keycard (green): Gives access to the back rooms of the black markets, where we can get the exotic weapons. We can also interact with the NPCs in these places and even hire them as our bodyguards during the game. You have to complete five Phase Quests and then pass the Unlock Quest to get it.
- Rare Outlaw Keycard (blue): Allows us to open the Outlaw Chests in the back rooms of the Black Markets for free gold bars. You must complete ten Phase Quests and then pass the Unlock Quest to get it.
- Epic Outlaw Keycard (purple): Allows you to purchase premium equipment in all Black Markets in exchange for a large amount of gold bars. You must complete fifteen phase quests and pass the unlock quest to obtain it.
- Legendary Outlaw Keycard (orange) - The Outlaw Chests in the back rooms of the Black Markets will now also grant a Legendary Rarity Weapon and a Dill Bit. You must complete twenty Phase Quests and then pass the Unlock Quest to obtain it.
As you can see, upgrading the Outlaw Keycard to its maximum level (Legendary Rarity) allows us to instantly obtain at least one Legendary and one Exotic weapon, giving us a significant advantage over other players for the rest of the game... and right after we land... and as soon as we land!
