Overwatch 2 Spotlight showcases new heroes and gameplay options coming to Blizzard’s shooter
Between the changes to the main mode and the return of reward boxes, Overwatch is getting a makeover.

Overwatch 2 is looking to stay as active as possible as we head into 2025 and Season 15. As part of the game’s activities, the Overwatch 2 Spotlight was presented this afternoon, a live stream that showed off some of the changes the game has in store for this year, including new features for all game modes, as well as new game modes and the return of some old favorites.
Everything announced in the Overwatch 2 Spotlight
During the presentation, Aaron Keller, director of Overwatch, revealed some major changes that will continue to keep Overwatch 2 fresh.
Among these changes for Season 15, details were announced regarding the main gameplay. The first of these is the Perks, a specific bonus for heroes that opens up options and strategies in matches, which Keller called the biggest change the game has seen since its launch. This will allow some of the heroes' special moves to be modified to give them extra power in battle. There will be two bonuses in each match, one minor and one major. The player will be able to choose between two options. For example, Torbjorn will be able to make changes to his turret, or Anna as a sniper will increase the damage of her weapon.

On the other hand, we had the return of the loot boxes, which will now be much more transparent. They will be part of both the rewards and the Battle Pass.
On the other hand, we will also feel like we are in a MOBA because we will have hero bans that will let teams decide which characters they do not want to see during the game. This adjustment will come during Season 16 and will be adjusted according to the community’s opinion, with the goal of making the system fast. Voting will affect not only the characters but also the players, who will be able to vote on the map, although this will not happen until a future season.
The 6v6 mode was also one of the topics of the evening. At the moment, it looks like it will still be present in Season 15, as a mid-season competitive mode, along with new events.
Freya, formerly Wind Dasher, arrives from Denmark to introduce herself as the new heroine. Formerly a member of Overwatch, she has become a bounty hunter who doesn’t play by the rules. Her weapons include a crossbow, which she uses to control the battlefield, and a jump that allows her to levitate for a time. Freya demands precision from players and will arrive in Season 16, which will be released in April.

On the other hand, Stadium, Overwatch’s largest single-player mode, was announced. In this mode, each round will include new skills in more direct confrontations. You will be able to play in both first and third person. The goal is to have a mod system that allows for strategic mastery of the field. Speaking of battlegrounds, the familiar maps will be modified to provide players with familiar battlegrounds. Fourteen heroes have been chosen for this game mode, with the goal of being balanced for all players. Stadium will be released in Season 16.

In terms of cosmetics, it was announced that Zenyatta, Juno, D.Va, Reaper, and Widowmaker will receive new mythical skins with the arrival of the new year. On the other hand, DokiWatch was introduced, a mix that will turn some of the Overwatch heroines into magical girls. It was also revealed that Le Sserafim will return for a new collaboration in Season 15.
Another detail was the announcement of the return of the Overwatch Champions Series, the competitive scene returns with a format that promises to be much easier to follow. There will be three stages, starting with the Champions Clash in April, followed by the Midseason Championship in July, and ending with the World Finals in Stockholm, Sweden in November.

For now, Overwatch 2 Season 15, Honor & Glory, will be released on February 18th .
