PewDiePie has been banned on Twitch
The biggest influencer of the past few years has just been banned from Twitch, without an apparent reason.
It seems like leaking stuff isn’t the only way to get banned from Twitch anymore. In a surprise news for today, it turns out that PewDiePie, one of the biggest and most successful Youtubers/Influencers in the history of the internet (at least until MrBeast made his way to the stage) has had his Twitch channel banned.
While no details have been released about the reasons for this sudden ban, it might be that it came at the hand of some of the content creator’s old content. After all, PewDiePie hasn’t really been active for a few months, having distanced itself from the YouTube grind to focus on enjoying his family and relaxing around the world. His most recent content has been squarely set on the “IRL” category, with not many updates beyond personal opinions and the things that he’s been enjoying lately.
Why was PewDiePie banned from Twitch?
For that same reason, it’s strange that his Twitch channel received such a penalization. PewDiePie has been using the platform only to re-run his old streaming and YouTube content, which has been going well enough for him to still be a hugely watched channel on Twitch, but no new content has been released for a while. In this way his channel is only a way for him to continue earning ad revenue and subscribers while repurposing his already released content.
It’s possible that one of his older videos contained something controversial (as he tended to do) or that it included licensed content that earned him a DMCA takedown, but we won’t have an answer unless the streamer decides to make a statement. There is no hint as to whether the channel will return or not, but PewDiePie worked hard enough since he started to career to be able to enjoy the more leisurely life he currently has.
