Phantom Blade Zero, a new “Kung Fu Punk” action RPG, debuts with a gameplay trailer

The latest PlayStation Showcase gave us a hefty first look at Phantom Blade Zero, a new martial arts action RPG that gives off hints of Nioh and Sekiro.

Phantom Blade Zero is a new fast-paced action RPG unveiled at the PlayStation Showcase 2023 event, a title developed by Chinese studio S-Game and published by Cruel Man Studio which will be available forPS5 and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store) at a date yet to be announced. This is how its creators presented it through an epic trailer that you can see below these lines and that makes it very clear what type of gameplay the title proposes, defined by its authors as “Kung Fu Punk”.

In Phantom Blade Zero, players will have to face all kinds of enemies in a fantastic world of Kung Fu in which elements as disparate as samurai, the dark arts, and mechanical monsters are mixed in the purest steampunk style. Soul, the protagonist, is an elite assassin who works for The Order and who is accused of ending the life of the head of the organization.

Thus, he will have 66 days to find the real killer while trying to survive the threat of those who intend to hunt him down, all through spectacular combat and action sequences that we can see in the Phantom Blade Zero trailer. The world of the game will be semi-open, with large levels to explore to find different elements to customize our protagonist, be it with weapons, abilities, armor, or other artifacts.

According to its developers, they have been inspired by the aesthetics of combat from movies starring Bruce Lee, Michelle Yeoh in the award-winning Everything Everywhere All At Once , and Donnie Yen in John Wick 4. Phantom Blade Zero will come to PS5 and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store) on a future date to be announced.
