Rick and Morty Season 9 shows its first footage and promises bigger, stranger adventures

The long-running animated series prepares for its next wave of unpredictable episodes.

The wait is almost over, and even though we learned the release date for Season 9 of ‘Rick and Morty’ back in early March, today we finally have our first glimpse in a trailer that leaves us wondering what will happen in the upcoming episodes.

The trailer, which you can watch above, is packed with the usual dose of absurdity and convoluted storylines that the Smith family is known for. From several hilariously dangerous scenarios, including living room furniture that has inexplicably come to life to attack the family, to a floor that has literally been turned into molten lava. When questioned by his family about the lava, Rick casually dismisses their concern, admitting he can’t remember if it was installed for home defense purposes or purely for his own amusement.

‘Rick and Morty’ has been a standout for years, and it’s set to continue that streak in the future with Adult Swim’s renewal of the animated series through Season 12. Many new adventures are on the way in the coming years, but right around the corner, we have everything from its ninth season. Recently, it was revealed that, Dan Harmon and Scott Marder (showrunner and writer, respectively) took charge of seasons 8, 9, and 10 at the same time, in order to bring some coherence to the otherwise incoherent adventures of Rick Sanchez.
