Some Nintendo Switch 2 consoles have an issue with their battery charge indicator, this is how to fix it
Switch 2 battery indicator broken? Here’s how to fix it.

Some Nintendo Switch 2 owners have reported an issue where the battery charge indicator displays incorrect percentages, sometimes showing the battery as nearly depleted when there’s still plenty of power left. Fortunately, Nintendo has provided a step-by-step fix to recalibrate the battery display and restore accurate readings.
Step-by-step fix for the battery charge issue
If your Switch 2’s battery percentage seems off, follow these steps to reset the charge indicator:
- Ensure your console is updated – Install the latest system update to rule out software-related issues.
- Adjust sleep settings – Set all three Auto-Sleep mode settings to Never in the system menu.
- Charge the console directly – Plug the AC adapter into the Switch 2 without using the dock.
- Charge for at least three hours – Let the battery reach 100% or charge for three hours, whichever comes first.
- Leave it plugged in – Keep the console connected to power for an additional hour after reaching full charge.
- Monitor battery performance – If the issue persists, repeat the process or try Recovery Mode to reset the battery level meter.

For reference, a fully-charged Switch 2 should have a battery life of 2.5 to 6.5 hours. Nintendo also suggests draining the battery until it’s nearly empty and then charging it back to full multiple times to gradually improve the charge indicator’s accuracy.
Why is this happening?
The Switch 2’s battery calibration may be affected by power-saving settings or charging inconsistencies, leading to incorrect readings. While this isn’t a hardware defect, it can cause confusion for players who rely on accurate battery percentages.
PSA: if you gonna charge your Nintendo switch 2 with a battery pack. Make sure it’s a 65wats & it’s over 10,000mAh & don’t used the switch 1 usb-c to usb-A to charge your switch 2. Get a spare switch 2 charger cable with it & you’ll be fine. Happy travels!!!
