Stallone on his former feud with Schwarzenegger: “We couldn’t stand to be in the same room”
The two actors didn’t get along at all, but their relationship changed over time.

It’s common knowledge that Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger couldn’t stand each other. The two actors competed to embody the archetype of the action hero in film, a role both have played on numerous occasions. However, that feud is now a thing of the past. In an interview with MacLean’s, the star of ‘Rambo’ and ‘Rocky’ addressed this issue.
According to Stallone, his relationship with the star of ‘Conan the Barbarian’ and ‘The Terminator’ was strained for a long time, though that situation eventually changed. In the end, what remained was an extraordinary rivalry between the two actors.

From Enemy to Rival
“That went on for a long time. We couldn’t stand to be in the same room,” Stallone admitted. “But I like a good adversary. It makes you lose sleep and want to get up in the morning and go to the gym. We started in the business almost the same day. We were at the Golden Globes and he had won for best newcomer; I lost for best actor but we had won best picture, and I took this bouquet of flowers and threw it on him like, ‘It’s on, pal!’”

According to Stallone, from that day on, it was all about competition. Still, “you move on, have families, and you realize that this fellow’s very similar to you. Now we get along great.” The reconciliation took place around the time Schwarzenegger launched his campaign to become governor of California.
