Stephen King’s new movie starring Tom Hiddleston triumphs at Toronto festival, pointing at an Oscar
‘The Life of Chuck’, a new movie highlighting Stephen King’s style and experience, has become one of the biggest successes at the Toronto International Film Festival.
‘The Life of Chuck’ is the newest adaptation of a work by Stephen King on the big screen. Directed by Mike Flanagan and starring Tom Hiddleston, the film has triumphed at the Toronto International Film Festival, one of the most important in the world and which is considered by many as the prelude to the Oscars, practically guaranteeing its nomination for the most important awards in the film industry. The reason? In the last twelve years, the main favorite of the audience at the Toronto Film Festival has been nominated for best film at the Oscars, with some even taking the award.
What films won the Oscar after triumphing in Toronto? ‘12 Years a Slave’, ‘The Green Book’ and ‘Nomadland’. This does not assure anything for ‘The Life of Chuck’, but it leaves the film in a very good position and it would not be the first time that an adaptation of a work by Stephen King is at the top: ‘Stand by me’, ‘The Shawshank Redemption’, ‘The Green Mile’, ‘Carrie’ and ‘Misery’ are great examples that the master of horror also stands out in different genres on the big screen.
‘The Life of Chuck’ and its theatrical release
The adaptation of Stephen King’s novel is becoming one of the most anticipated films and, although there is still no scheduled date for its theatrical release, it is expected to do so sometime in 2024. The synopsis of ‘The Life of Chuck’ says the following: “Based on the story by Stephen King, it tells three stories related to the character Charles Krantz, in reverse order: from his death from a brain tumor at age 39 to his childhood in a supposedly haunted house.”
