Still waiting for Bioshock 4? Mark June 26 for the game that started it all

Get ready to know the game that inspired it all.

Update:

Not only Nintendo had news to share this Wednesday. While fans eagerly await Bioshock 4, another legendary title is stepping into the spotlight—System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster, releasing on June 26, 2025. This highly anticipated remaster brings new life to the groundbreaking sci-fi horror action RPG that served as the inspiration for Bioshock and the immersive sim genre as a whole.

Developed by Nightdive Studios, the remaster retains the original’s gripping tale of survival aboard the Von Braun, where players face off against SHODAN, the rogue AI at the heart of its chilling narrative. Modern enhancements, including updated visuals, refined mechanics, and expanded mod support, ensure that this classic remains fresh and engaging for both long-time fans and new players.

Unlike the underwater dystopia of Bioshock, System Shock 2 immerses players in a high-stakes, futuristic nightmare, but the threads of its DNA —tense exploration, atmospheric storytelling, and player choice—, are unmistakably felt in Bioshock. Its return offers gamers a chance to experience the game that paved the way for some of today’s most iconic franchises.

Launching on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch, the remaster is making itself widely available, giving everyone the chance to dive into the chaos. So, while the wait for Bioshock 4 continues, June 26 serves as a perfect reminder of where it all began more than 25 years ago.
