'Superman Legacy': The iconic logo that Superman could wear on his new costume comes to light
Two actresses from the cast of James Gunn’s upcoming Man of Steel movie share a very representative DC Comics logo.
‘Superman Legacy’, the first movie of James Gunn’s new DCU, is about to start shooting. So much so that its stars and main crew are already gathered to start the production, all through the first script reading tables, as some members of the cast have shared. But what we did not expect is that two of its actresses, Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl) and Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher) published pictures of their nameplates with a very special DC Comics Superman logo. Will this be the “S” logo that David Corenswet will wear on the new Man of Steel suit in the movies?
Kingdom Come Breaks into ‘Superman Legacy’
Fans of superheroes in general and DC Comics, in particular, will quickly recognize this particular Superman logo. It is the “S” that a veteran Clark Kent wears in his costume in the Kingdom Come comics, a design never before seen in the movies and that was seen in The CW’s ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’ TV crossover, giving continuity to Brandon Routh’s Man of Steel and paying a nice tribute to such a beloved comic book work by the duo of Mark Waid and Alex Ross.
We don’t know for sure if this distinctive “S” - a modern take on the traditional Superman logo - will be worn by David Corenswet on his Superman costume, or perhaps any costume. Or maybe it is just a nod from James Gunn’s production to a comic book so iconic and beloved by fans of the Man of Steel. We’ll have to wait for our first look at Superman’s new movie costume, which shouldn’t be long before we get our first glimpse.
Let’s remember that Kingdom Come is a comic book published in 1996 that takes us to a future in which the superheroes of Superman’s generation have already retired, leaving room for new generations of young superheroes with somewhat peculiar ideals of justice and vision of humanity, far from the original philosophy of the old Justice League. After a nuclear explosion in Kansas caused by a battle between new metahumans, Superman returns to action with his old companions to restore order and peace, although he will soon come into conflict with figures such as Batman or Lex Luthor...
‘Superman Legacy’ will be released on July 11, 2025.
