‘The Batman II’ unveils its first images directed by Matt Reeves and announces a new release date

‘The Batman II’ has been shrouded in mystery and darkness, just like the titular character. Although the wait for this sequel has been long due to several delays, the arrival of the new DCU, and Robert Pattinson’s portrayal of the Dark Knight, today we can finally catch a first glimpse of the film.

Through his official account on X (formerly Twitter), director Matt Reeves posted a link to his Vimeo account, where we get a glimpse of a new camera test for the film. In it, we see Batman from behind, gazing at the horizon during a snowfall. Slowly, the caped crusader turns around, revealing what will be the film’s official logo.

Batman II is delayed again

However, it’s not all good news from Gotham City. At the end of the video, a new release date for the film is also revealed, pushing the release back by just over three months. Now, instead of hitting theaters on October 1, 2027, it won’t be until February 18, 2028, that we’ll finally see Robert Pattinson return as Batman. This extends the wait to nearly six years since the release of the first film.

For now, details about ‘The Batman II’ remain very limited. Joining Pattinson are Andy Serkis as Alfred and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon. Joining them are Scarlett Johansson, Charles Dance, and Sebastian Stan, who, according to rumors, will play the Dent family. However, new rumors suggest that Stan will actually play the serial killer Victor Zsasz. With more than a year and a half until the film’s release, we’ll have plenty of time—and plenty of rumors—to find out who these actors will actually be playing.
