Peacock

The Continental, the John Wick prequel mini-series, gets a trailer and release date

The first ever John Wick spin-off is arriving this year as a mini-series thanks to Peacock, and we finally have an official trailer and a release date.

Update:
The Continental

A party of action, blood, and martial arts. This is the debut trailer (below these lines) of The Continental, the first spin-off of John Wick that will arrive in September of this same year to Peacock. It is a three-part miniseries that will explore the origins of the iconic hotel for assassins that acts as the main stage of the saga.

The history of the hotel will be told “through the eyes and actions of a young Winston Scott, as he’s dragged into the Hell-scape of 1970′s New York City to face a past he thought he’d left behind. Winston charts a deadly course through the hotel’s mysterious underworld in a harrowing attempt to seize the hotel where he will eventually take his future throne.”

Ballerina, the other spin off with Ana de Armas

The Continental will be joined next year by a second spin-off, Ballerina, in this case starring Ana de Armas. It will be released in theaters around the world on June 7, 2024 and its writers have already revealed what it will be about:

“Ballerina starts by introducing a character who kind of went through some of the same training as John in the ballet academy of Anjelica Huston[’s character] that we see in the third movie. But then she ends up going to a whole new corner of the world and a new kind of isolated community that really is unlike anything we’ve seen in these previous John Wick movies”

A few weeks ago it was confirmed that Keanu Reeves would be present in Ballerina and apparently, not for a simple cameo. “I shouldn’t say too much, but he’s in the movie in a way that I think people are going to be really excited by. And it was cool because it really was... the only reason we set it between three and four was because it felt like there was kind of a cool window of time for John there, because at the end of the third movie, he’s been shot off the roof. He’s really kind of beaten up, and then he recuperates in the Bowery King’s basement,” confessed Shay Hatten, its writer.

Reeves, who once again has John Wick 5 on the table, will not be the only surprise of Ballerina, because we will also see in her the recently departed Lance Reddick, who will make a special appearance and will join other cast members like the much-loved Norman Reedus (Daryl in The Walking Dead, and Sam Porter en Death Stranding).
