The Joker 2 director just shared a new look at Joaquin Phoenix in the sequel
The return of the most popular villain in all of DC Comics in its most gritty, horribly realistic version is nigh, and the Joker 2 director has new images to share.
The world of superhero films has been, possibly, the most prominent at the global box office in recent decades, with a large number of releases, but most of which always revolved around protagonists more aligned with good than evil. Instead, Joker from director Todd Phillips put us in the shoes of the most charismatic villain in the DC Comics multiverse, which when played by Joaquin Phoenix left us moments and a role to remember. Its sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux, will be released just a year from now, and that is why its director has shared a new image on his Instagram account.
Todd Phillips confirmed the end of filming of the sequel last April, with a release in theaters planned for October 4, 2024, with the movie now in the middle of a long editing and post-production process. The film will seemingly have musical elements and will focus on the romance between Harley Quinn, played by Lady Gaga, and the Joker, inside Arkham Asylum.
Joaquin Phoenix and his spectacular Joker
In the image, we see Arthur Fleck, the real name of the movie’s Joker, surrounded by colorful umbrellas as the rain falls. “October 4. Thanks for all the messages. Four years ago we had quite a ride. Lots of great memories. More to come,” Phillips highlights on his Instagram. An image that tells nothing about the film, but at the same time leaves us wanting to know much more about what will surely be one of the biggest hits of next year. The end of its first installment leaves many open questions that we can begin to discover in Arkham, a place where the Joker’s madness will spread to other characters.
