The Last of Us has been officially renewed for Season 3, days before Season 2 premieres
The adaptation of The Last of Us Part II will continue in Season 3.

We knew that The Last of Us Part II was going to take more than one season to be adapted, so this announcement comes as no surprise. The Last of Us series on HBO has officially been renewed for a third season, just days before the highly anticipated Season 2 premieres.
The announcement was made via the social media accounts of both Max and Naughty Dog. With only the phrase “It can be for nothing”, revealing that “Season 3 is coming”. For now, no further details about the production have been given, and we may not know until Season 2 ends.
More than one season to adapt The Last of Us Part II
It was in 2023 that showrunner Craig Mazin had anticipated that the adaptation of The Last of Us Part II would take more than one season, mentioning that “four seems like a good number,” something that later, HBO executive Francesca Orsi, confirmed.
Meanwhile, the first reviews for The Last of Us Season 2 are in. And although the average Rotten Tomatoes rating has dropped by 3%, the series continues to receive good reviews. Our colleagues at MeriStation in Spain praise the season for its mature storytelling and character development, describing it as “a raw, violent and vengeful narrative that captures the tone of the video game while pushing Ellie and Joel to their emotional limits. They also noted the excellent production design and action sequences.
Ahead of its premiere this Sunday, April 13th, we invite you to check out everything you need to know about The Last of Us Season 2.
