The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s map is nearly identical to the previous game

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has been confirmed to be a direct sequel to Breath of the Wild, and a comparison shows it’s map is almost unchanged.

Update:
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

After Nintendo revealed the first 10 minutes of gameplay of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the comparisons between the new game and its previous installment, Breath of the Wild, have started to spring up. Fans of the franchise have run across the plains of Hyrule to figure out if what was shown was any different, and it turns out that, the maps look almost identical. Tears of the Kingdom has been conceived as a direct sequel to Breath of the Wild and that’s how it has been announced since it was released, but that doesn’t exactly excuse the amount of likenesses and recycled content between one and the other.

Tears of the Kingdom not only retains the most hated feature of Breath of the Wild, but the hyrule map is practically 1:1 with respect to the original. It is clear that Nintendo still has more than one surprise in store, such as the new floating islands that there are in the sky, and that they want us to arrive as blind as possible to the final experience. However, the company has shown us that now we will be able to interact in a completely different way with its world, since we have significant innovations at the mechanical level, such as the possibility of building vehicles, reversing objects back in time, and going through certain walls, like in Link Between Worlds.

It seems that the main attraction for Tears of the Kingdom (planned for release on May 12, 2023) will consist of building upon what truly amazed us about the original: the physics, the interaction between some objects in the world and others, and the playable possibilities. Being an evolution of one of the most influential open worlds in history, so as not to feel tempted by the proposal and by that awesome Nintendo Switch OLED which will commemorate the launch.
