The open beta for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls will include a story mode and 15 characters
Marvel is back, but this time not with Capcom, but with the developers of Guilty Gear

The fighting game universe is gearing up to welcome one of the most ambitious titles of the current season. An official update on the PlayStation Blog has confirmed all the technical and content details for the upcoming open beta of Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. The big surprise? Players will not only be able to test their skills in traditional competitive modes, but they’ll also have direct access to a portion of the highly anticipated Episode Mode—the main story campaign of this title.
The technical stress test will take place simultaneously on the PlayStation 5 and PC platforms, formally beginning on July 24, 2026, at 12:00 AM Pacific Time (3:00 AM Eastern Time) and ending on July 26, 2026, at 11:59 PM Pacific Time (2:59 AM Eastern Time on July 27). This represents the perfect opportunity for the global community to experience the game’s balance and mechanics ahead of its imminent commercial release.
Five ways to play: The Spider-Man campaign makes its mark
For this open beta, the developers have included a generous variety of content. Episode Mode will feature the story campaign “Spider-Man’s Amazing Guardians” across three full chapters. On the multiplayer side, players will be able to test their skills in the online Casual Match and Ranked Match modes with a fully open lobby. Finally, the experience is rounded out by the classic offline Versus Mode for battling against the AI (CPU) and an unlocked Training Mode for practicing combos and mastering each fighter’s special moves.
The list of playable characters is another highlight of this beta test. Sony confirmed that a total of 15 characters will be available for immediate selection, representing the five main factions of the final game. Among the most celebrated additions are Black Panther and Blade, two of the most recent character reveals in the game’s marketing campaign. The complete official roster for the beta is as follows:
- Amazing Guardians: Consisting of Ms. Marvel, Peni Parker, Spider-Man, and Star-Lord.
- Fighting Avengers: The Avengers’ trinity featuring Black Panther, Captain America, and Iron Man.
- Knights of Doom: The dark faction led by Doctor Doom and Magneto.
- Samurai Outriders: The mystical and violent wing consisting of Blade and Ghost Rider.
