‘The Rings of Power’ reveals the identity of The Stranger in the final episode of Season 2

He is one of the most important characters in The Lord of the Rings.

El Extraño Los Anillos de Poder

After two years of living with the uncertainty of who was hiding behind The Stranger, his identity is finally revealed in the final episode of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” Season 2. The new installment of J.R.R. Tolkien’s universe has kept us on tenterhooks throughout September, and although it has left some clues that made us suspect, it was not until the premiere of “Shadow and Flame” that they confirmed which character it was.

The eighth chapter of ‘The Rings of Power’ offers us several impressive scenes, a shocking tragedy in the depths of the mines of Khazad-dûm, and the long-awaited confrontation between Sauron and Galadriel that many have wanted since the beginning of the series, but undoubtedly the most remarkable is the resolution of the enigmatic figure of The Stranger.

Who is The Stranger in The Rings of Power?

The identity of The Stranger, hidden throughout the two seasons of Prime Video, has finally been revealed. Season 1 pointed to Sauron as the prime suspect, but once we ruled out the Dark Lord, we had to look to Tolkien’s imagination for new candidates. After a long period of debate and speculation, it was finally revealed to be Gandalf, one of the five Istari.

However, this again leads to a break in Tolkien’s canon, because Gandalf is not supposed to arrive in Middle-earth until the Third Age, thousands of years after the forging of the Rings, when the Rings of Power series takes place.
