‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ sets streaming release date on Peacock — but you’ll have to wait

After a surprising run in theaters and its release on VOD in May, ‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ now has a release date on streaming platforms, specifically on NBCUniversal’s Peacock.

Fans will be able to watch ‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ again starting July 30. We’ll have to wait a whole month to relive Mario and friends’ second adventure in theaters—brought to us by Illumination and Nintendo—from the comfort of your own home. Maybe this way you’ll be able to pause it to find all those Easter eggs you might have missed when you saw it in theaters.

How did ‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ do?

The premiere of ‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ was a smash hit, and its opening weekend numbers speak for themselves. The collaboration between Illumination and Nintendo has once again broken box office records, with the film grossing $372.5 million in its global opening weekend, making it the highest-grossing film of 2026 to date.

Although public and critical opinion has been divided, the same thing has happened as with the first film: audiences accept the movie for what it is, not for what critics expect it to be—a fact that has been reflected at the box office.
