This is Moongazing, the theme song from Final Fantasy 16

Square Enix’s game was presented in a State of Play with gameplay and lots of additional information.

One of the contenders for GOTY. That’s the feeling that Final Fantasy XVI left in its latest glimpse during the State of Play on April 13th. Square Enix’s game presented details about the map, the combat system and other important aspects of the next chapter of the long time franchise. Producer Naoki Yoshida revealed during the stream that vocalist Kenshi Yonezu will be responsible for the main theme. Now the studio has released a preview of the track, which you can listen to below.

The song is called Tsuki wo miteita, which the official account translates as Moongazing. The literal translation from Japanese to English would be something like I saw the moon. Yonezu, artistically known as Hachi, has been popularized in anime such as Chainsaw Man or My Hero Academia.

A PS5 exclusive for at least 6 months after launch

Final Fantasy XVI will be released on PS5 on June 25, but its development has ended. Although the exclusivity is of a temporary nature, it is unknown when it will reach other platforms, although Naoki Yoshida made it clear that the title would not be ready on PC when the agreement with PlayStation expires, six months after launch. In the case of Final Fantasy VII Remake, also with a similar contract, the reimagined version of the classic was released only on PC, although in theory it could have been marketed on Xbox consoles.

Find out everything about the State of Play dedicated to Final Fantasy XVI in this article. Square Enix has opted for an action-oriented combat system, much more hack’n slash style, so we are not faced with an attempt to build a hybrid system between action and tactical turns. We can only wait for May and June to be heavy months full of amazing games and little no time to play them all.
