Twitch rolls back their sexual content guidelines, and will no longer allow artistic nudity after streamer complaints

Twitch has decided to revert its guidelines once again after the sexual content permissions they added ended up being not so well received. Now, nudity in artistic elements is no longer allowed, again.

Update:
Twitch prohibe desnudos plataforma artísticos

Twitch backs down after its latest policy change. The streaming platform confirmed that they will return to their previous regulations regarding the display of nudity, both real and fictional characters, in artistic formats. Those related to M-rated video games will remain exempt from this prohibition.

Twitch returns to square one with nudity in streams

Part of this update included changes to how we treat fictionalized nudity. For years, through UserVoice and in conversations, we heard from artists that our content policies were limiting”explains a Twitch spokesperson in an entry on the official website of the platform. “In making this update, we were trying to be responsive to these requests and allow the thriving artist community on Twitch to utilize the human form in their art.”

Unfortunately it has not been so. They claim that “some streamers” responded to this change of direction with content that violated the new regulations. Not everything was negative, and there was “a great deal of new content” that emerged thanks to the new guidelines. The situation of the community (and its context) has ended with a change back to the point we were at before. “Upon reflection, we have decided that we went too far with this change. Digital depictions of nudity present a unique challenge–AI can be used to create realistic images, and it can be hard to distinguish between digital art and photography.”

The final decision is blunt: Real or digital nudity is not allowed regardless of the medium, except for the video games that we mentioned previously. The sexual content policy is only altered in these cases; The rest of the points remain as they were. It is clear that Twitch’s management is not blind to what is said on social networks.
