Vampire Survivors pays tribute to Final Fantasy VII Rebirth by remaking the original’s 1997 trailer

The launch of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has been one of the biggest moments of the year in the video game industry. An highly awaited moment that became real this past February 29, the most special date on our calendar, one that occurs only every four years. A game that has marked an entire generation, and of which Poncle, the developers behind Vampire Survivors, have made a particular tribute by recreating shot-by-shot the trailer for the original Final Fantasy VII, which was released in 1997, and which looks really good despite the difference in the graphic style of one game and the other.

Luca Galante, the creator of the game, has admitted on his social networks his passion for Final Fantasy VII, celebrating the day of the launch of the latest installment of the franchise and with his characteristic humor he has spoken about the trailer in question: “I’ve f̷o̷r̷c̷e̷d̷ kindly asked half the team to make this trailer as a homage to one of my favourite games ever and milestone of the gaming industry: Vampire Survivors. Lol happy Final Fantasy VII Rebirth day!”

Final Fantasy VII has been around for almost three decades, a video game classic that remains more alive than ever, with a new installment of its remake trilogy that is conquering critics and audiences alike. Luca Galante is one of many passionate about the game, and now with this tribute, he even teased more stuff for their own game by saying “Wonder how much of the video is sh*tposting vs how much is a content tease for VS.” Additionally, he thanked the entire Poncle team for “embracing the madness,” and like many other players around the world, he makes it clear to tell human resources that he is “ill at least until the 7th (unless there’s another pull-ups mini-game in FFVII Rebirth).”
