When does Lilo & Stitch come out on Disney+? Approximate release date

Continuing its trend of remaking animated classics, Disney brought Lilo & Stitch back to the big screen at the end of May as a live-action film. The film, a remake of the 2002 animated film of the same name, has been well-received at the box office. However, some of the biggest fans of the original have complained about the changes made to this version. The film is still in theaters after being released on May 21, but, as always, times change, and many people prefer to watch movies at home. As expected, it will eventually be available on Disney+.

Is Lilo & Stitch still in theaters?

As mentioned above, Lilo & Stitch was only released in theaters worldwide on May 23, 2025. Ever since, it’s been a success at the box office, beating other movies like Mission: Impossible or Ballerina. The movie stars Maia Kealoha in her film debut as Lilo Pelekai, and original Lilo & Stitch writer-director Chris Sanders reprising his voice role as Stitch, with Sydney Elizebeth Agudong, Billy Magnussen, Hannah Waddingham, Courtney B. Vance, Zach Galifianakis, and original cast members Tia Carrere, Amy Hill, and Jason Scott Lee appearing in different supporting roles

When Will Lilo & Stitch be available to stream on Disney Plus?

Disney has not announced a release date for Lilo & Stitch on Disney+ yet. However, going by how their movies have worked historically, most people believe that the movie should arrive on the platform during August 2025, more or less three months after its theatrical premiere.

What is Lilo & Stitch about?

The live-action version of Lilo and Stitch follows the same story as the original, except for a few details. The film tells the story of “the bond formed between a lonely human girl named Lilo and a dog-like alien named Stitch, who is engineered to be a force of destruction. Pursuing aliens, social workers and the idea of the bond of family figure into the proceedings.”
