Why am I being called and hung up on by an unknown number?

Surely you have found yourself answering a call that is not answered. We tell you why this happens and if there is a way to fix it.

Receiving calls on your cell phone is perfectly normal, that’s what it’s there for. What is really strange is to receive these calls from a phone you do not know, but even stranger is that they call you and hang up immediately. Any explanation for that? Well, that’s why we’re here, to give you an answer to this strange behavior.

They call me and hang up, why?

I’m sure you get a call or two during the course of your day. Hopefully most or all of them are from someone you know, but sometimes you get a call from a number that doesn’t answer and hangs up. To many, this is a rude practice, and they are right, but it is true that there must be a reason for this.

Unless you have a prankster friend, we’re sorry to tell you that he’s not trying to pull a fast one on you. In fact, you would recognize him by the log. The answer lies in one of the most “hateful” practices for users, which is none other than spam calls. Spam calls have been banned for years at certain times of the day, but sometimes they are really suspicious because of their repetitive behavior.

It turns out that these calls are generated from so-called call centers, the workplaces where many companies launch their customer acquisition campaigns to their phone lists.

It turns out that different companies have automatic dialing programs that send these calls to the lists they have available. This allows their employees to speed up their work to the point where they don’t have to dial, but rather take the call that has already been made by the machine. But what happens if there is no one to answer the call? You know: you pick up the phone, no one answers and the call ends.

Is there any way to prevent them from calling you more than once?

Once this happens, you should note that the call can be redialed. This is because the software will leave it in the queue waiting to be redialed, and in fact it may do so within a few seconds. For this reason, we understand that it can be very annoying as a user, but the best thing to do is to ignore subsequent calls, knowing that it is spam.

If you are wondering how to avoid spam calls, there are many ways. Some phones already have a list of numbers marked as spam that will warn you before you answer. For your part, you can go to your mobile phone’s registry and blacklist them to avoid calls from those numbers.
