X-Men ’97 Season 2 may be closer than expected as Marvel confirms a major presence at Tribeca

Since its return in 2024, X-Men ’97, the animated series that brought back the mid-’90s version, has remained silent regarding its next season. However, a new clue suggests that the wait may be coming to an end and that the series could return with Season 2 this summer.

As reported by IndieWire, the series will feature prominently at the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival, where the world premiere of Season 2 will take place as part of the panels dedicated to series and podcasts. On the festival official site schedule, X-Men ’97 is slated for the final stretch of the event, with its screening scheduled for Saturday, June 13, at 2:30 p.m.

How long until it premieres on Disney+?

This announcement doesn’t mean the second season will arrive on Disney+ immediately, but it does provide a clear indication of when it might be expected. Added to this is the earlier announcement of a comic book series titled X-Men ’97 Season 2, which will serve as a narrative bridge between the first and second seasons. This series will consist of five issues, written by Steve Foxe and illustrated by Salva Espín, and will hit stores on June 3, just over a week before the premiere at Tribeca.
