X-Men ’97 Season 2 reveals what lies ahead for the mutants in its first trailer, along with its release date

Season 2 raises the stakes by pitting the team against Apocalypse across past, present, and future timelines.

Update:

The X-Men are back—or at least in their animated series, which revives the story that began with the 1990s series. This morning, Marvel Animation released the first trailer for ‘X-Men ’97’ Season 2, which reveals a little more about the adventures this group of characters will embark on following the events of the first season’s finale.

As the trailer mentions, “the X-Men are scattered through time—from the past, at the start of Apocalypse’s reign, to the future at the height of his rule”—and it is at this most vulnerable point that Apocalypse seeks to strike them where they are most vulnerable: the 1990s, while both groups strive to return to their own eras. Additionally, the trailer gives us a quick glimpse of some of the cameos we’ll see, such as Deadpool (though it’s Morph transforming into him) as well as Emma Frost, who we hope will have a more prominent role than in the first season.

Get ready for season 2

To get ready for the next season, a comic book series titled ‘X-Men ’97 Season 2’ will be released, serving as a narrative bridge between the first and second seasons. The series will consist of five issues, written by Steve Foxe and illustrated by Salva Espín, and will hit stores on June 3.

When and where will X-Men ’97 Season 2 premiere?
