Yoko Taro, the creator of sagas like NieR and Drakengard, has been interviewed by IGN Japan together with the director of Stellar Blade, Kim Hyung-Tae. A talk in which both creatives talked about their titles, with the charismatic Yoko Taro declaring “Stellar Blade is a really amazing game. I’d say that it’s much better than NieR:Automata.” The next big PlayStation 5 exclusive will hit the storefronts on April 26 and aims to be one of the biggest hits of 2024.

The Japanese creative declared that he has been a follower of Kim Hyung-Tae’s work since he worked as an artist in the Magna Carta franchise. Regarding the graphics of Stellar Blade, Yoko Taro highlighted that “they are completely next-gen quality and the character design’s direction is amazing,” even telling Kim Hyung-Tae that he is jealous that the game “shows how you and your studio’s staff were working on it very hard together. As someone who works together with development studios as an outsider, it’s not possible to share my vision and ideas for details at the same level as you can. I really envy that. .” For his part, the creator of Stellar Blade stressed that NieR: Automata is a better game, noting that “the more we talk about it, the more I feel that Stellar Blade can’t compete.”

Stellar Blade and a success that began with its demo

The demo of Stellar Blade released on PlayStation 5 has managed to be a notable success among players, with some of them accumulating more than 80 hours in a demo that can be completed in less than an hour if we skip the cinematics and learn the patterns of the enemies. The quality of the title and its playability have caused many players to not be able to stop playing.

Regarding Stellar Blade and the differences with NieR: Automata, Kim Hyung-Tae noted that he considers himself “a visualist and not a storyteller.I have always focused on how something looks, so I can’t compare to Mr. Yoko when it comes to the story department, but I believe that Stellar Blade’s gameplay makes up for that shortcoming.”
