Marvel Series
Daredevil and the rest of Netflix's Marvel series are moving to Disney+
Series such as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, The Punisher or The Defenders will become part of the Disney+ catalog after their departure from Netflix's offer.
Update: After a few days of uncertainty about the arrival to the streaming service, new details were released about the eventual arrival of Netflix's Marvel series that will now arrive at Disney+.
Through an official statement, Disney revealed that series such as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, The Punisher, as well as Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will arrive on the streaming service in the United States on March 16. Along with this, there will also be an update to the platform's parental controls.
“Disney+ has served as the home for some of the most beloved brands in the industry, and the addition of these live-action shows brings more from the Marvel brand together, all in one place,” said Michael Paull, President of Disney Streaming.
These new parental control features make sense, considering the elevated degrees of violence and use of foul language that may not be suitable for all Disney+ audiences.
For now, the United States and Canada are the countries where it was announced that the series will arrive on Disney+. For the time being, the press release mentions that these Marvel series will also arrive in other markets where Disney+ is available "later this year".
The original news, below.
Marvel series such as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, The Punisher or The Defenders will become part of Disney+ after leaving the Netflix catalog. This information has come from an official statement from Disney+ Canada, where it has been detailed that all Marvel shows on Netflix will be available on Disney's streaming platform from next March 16, 2022. At the moment there is no confirmation that this will be the same in the other territories where the Disney service is available.
The Defenders coming to Disney+, as part of the MCU?
It was recently announced that the previously canceled series Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher and The Defenders, or in other words, the Marvel universe created for Netflix, would leave the platform on March 1. Apparently, the series will be available again after a mere 15 days, this time, as part of the Disney+ catalog. With this, what many are wondering is what will happen to said universe after the introduction of Daredevil or Kingpin in the MCU, both in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Hawkeye, respectively. With this move, it seems that Marvel Studios intends to integrate all these characters into its cinematic universe.
Now it remains to confirm definitively how they will reach Disney+ and in what form; will they be part of the catalog for the whole family like the rest of Marvel products or will they end up in a more adult-themed channel such as STAR, integrated within Disney+? Let's remember that Netflix's Marvel series have a more marked tone for adults with more explicit and violent content, showing hard fight scenes and violence with blood included, something they are not used to in the MCU.
