FIFA correctly predicts the World Cup’s winner for the fourth time

In the days before buying a lottery ticket, you might want to consult with EA Sports about what numbers to choose. After all, they may be actual oracles after correctly predicting who the Soccer World Cup’s winner is going to be four times in a row. Argentina has raised above the rest in an incredible final match, which had to be decided with penalty kicks, but FIFA 2023 had already predicted that the Argentina team would be the ones to lift the Quatar World Cup from 2022.

Before the tournament had even started, EA Sports saw fit to use the game’s Tournament and World Cup Kick-Off modes to try and guess (with data from the players) who’d be the winner. Of course, it ended up being Messi.

What other World Cups have they guessed correctly?

Back in 2010, the South African World Cup was won by Spain. FIFA predicted that the team would get away with their first ever global victory, and while a lot of people were doubtful, they proved to be right (and the Spanish people rejoiced). Four years later, in the Brazil World Cup 2014, EA Sports did the exact same thing with Germany, and once again proved to be a fit rival for Nostradamus. Another four years went by and by the time of the Russia World Cup 2018, the developers of the FIFA games had already crowned the Germans once more.

That being said, not all of their predictions are 100% correct. For example, in this very World Cup they weren’t able to predict that Kylian Mbappe would be the player with the most goals. They also couldn't predict that England would have been eliminated in the way they were.

FIFA 23 is available right now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. The Nintendo Switch version is the Legacy Edition, which means they’ve only updated the teams, stats, and player rosters. This last one is the only version that does not include the Qatar World Cup 2022 update fro free, which means that players on Switch have had to buy it as paid DLC.
