Aaron Judge reveals big regret after Yankees loss
The Toronto Blue Jays eliminated the New York Yankees on Wednesday night and Judge’s wait for a World Series win goes on.
The Toronto Blue Jays eliminated the New York Yankees with a 3-1 series win in the American League Division Series. It was a disappointing end for the Yankees, who had to watch on as the triumphant Blue Jays celebrated the victory on the New York infield.
“You don’t like seeing it and it kind of leaves an impression,” Aaron Judge said after the game. “Make sure this doesn’t happen next year.”
New York suffered in the series against the Blue Jays, allowing 34 runs in the four games and scoring just 19 runs. Judge had an outstanding personal performance, managing to hit .500 with seven RBIs in seven postseason games. But reflecting on the defeat on Wednesday night, he admitted that there may be big changes coming for the roster.
“It just sucks for the guys that this might be their last time wearing pinstripes, not getting a chance to have a long run with them and getting the championship,” Judge said.
“I want to get back out there right now,” Judge said. “I wish spring training was in a couple of weeks so we can kind of get this going.”
For Judge, it was another chastening experience in playoff baseball and one that will sorely hurt. He could well be crowned American League MVP for a third time this season and he has managed to keep up his high performance level into the postseason this year.
But for the eighth time in his ten-year MLB career, Judge has failed in the playoffs and his wait for a World Series ring goes on. The 2024 season was his closest but the Yankees fell to a 4-1 World Series defeat to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
