The Los Angeles Dodgers came from behind to win Game 1 of the Division Series against the Philadelphia Phillies, 5–3, in a tense and thrilling matchup that had everything — dominant pitching, anxious fans, and timely power hitting.

The Phillies struck first in the bottom of the second inning, capitalizing on a brief lapse by Shohei Ohtani. With two outs, Alec Bohm drew a walk and Brandon Marsh followed with a single to put two runners on base. J.T. Realmuto then ripped a two-run triple to clear the bases and make it 2–0. A sacrifice fly from Harrison Bader brought Realmuto home to stretch the lead to 3–0.

After that shaky inning, Ohtani regained his rhythm. Along with Phillies starter Cristopher Sánchez, he helped turn the game into a tight pitchers’ duel that kept the score frozen until the sixth inning.

That’s when the Dodgers began to claw their way back. With two outs already on the board (Mookie Betts and Teoscar Hernández), Freddie Freeman worked a walk and Tommy Edman singled to put runners on the corners. Then Kiké Hernández stepped up and delivered a clutch double, driving in both runners to cut the deficit to 3–2 and set off alarm bells in the Phillies’ dugout.

The next inning proved disastrous for Philadelphia. Rookie Andy Pages led off with a single, followed by Will Smith, who was hit by a pitch. With two men on, Teoscar Hernández redeemed himself from his earlier strikeout by launching a towering home run that silenced the home crowd and gave the Dodgers their first lead of the night, 5–3.

The Dodgers’ bullpen took it from there. Tyler Glasnow shut down any hopes of a Phillies rally with a spotless relief outing, and Rōki Sasaki — showing nerves of steel and triple-digit fastballs — closed out the game with authority to lock in the win.

The Division Series is just heating up

With the comeback victory, the Dodgers take a 1–0 lead in the Division Series. Game 2 will be played on Monday, October 6, at 4:00 p.m. (Central Mexico Time), at the same ballpark.

The series is far from over, but the Phillies will need a strong response if they want to keep their postseason hopes alive.
