The Cincinnati Reds (40-45) handed a new defeat, the seventh in the last ten games, to the New York Yankees (54-33) by beating them 5-4 at Yankee Stadium hand in hand by Elly De La Cruz versus a dominant Aaron Judge with the bat.

The starting pitchers dominated the first three innings, but De La Cruz got the Reds’ machinery moving in the fourth. The Dominican hit a very powerful triple to right field and visited the plate after a grounder out by Jeimer Candelario.

Cincinnati scored four runs in the fifth, and two were driven in by De La Cruz’s 15th home run of the year. ‘La Cocoa’ sent the ball at 114.1 miles per hour to center field to score along to Jonathan India. The other two lines on the board were achieved via a home run by Will Benson, in which Stuart Fairchild was already on the path.

The Yankees' response

The New Yorker team responded in the sixth round with three runs. The first was produced by Gleyber Torres and caused David Bell to relieve Graham Ashcraft with Nick Martinez on the mound. With Alex Verdugo at third base and Torres at second base, rookie Ben Rice hit a double that put the second and third runs on the board.

Aaron Judge brought everyone in Yankee Stadium to their feet when he made the score 5-4 by hitting a home run in the seventh roll. ‘The Judge’ took the ball out of left field and reached the 32nd of the year.

Sadly, the “Bronx Bombers” could not turn the score around in the last two innings. In the eighth roll, Fernando Cruz struck out Gleyber Torres, Ben Rice went on the 13th, and DJ LeMahieu sent the ball straight into the glove of left fielder Nick Martini. For the ninth, Alexis Díaz took charge of the closing and gave Trent Grisham a chocolate while Austin Wells and Anthony Volpe hit hits that went directly into the gloves of Will Benson and De La Cruz, respectively.
