Fernando Tatis Jr. is blasted by minor league pitcher, branded a “cheater”
Fernando Tatis Jr. is serving an 80-game suspension after testing positive for a prohibited substance and his rehab offers little sympathy
Fernando Tatis Jr. is gradually returning to baseball activity, serving out a rehabilitation period with the AAA El Paso Chihuahuas for the next couple of weeks.
When the All-Star and Silver Slugger faced the Sacramento River Cats, he was welcomed with boos and when pitcher Kade McClure gave up a home run to Tatis, things took an even stranger turn.
One fan tweeted a video of the home run with the statement, “Kade McClure will be telling people for years about the time he gave up an absolute nuke to Fernando Tatis Jr.” Responding in the comments, McClure tweeted, “Cheater hits a home run with the team he is assigned to for his rehab while suspended for steroids.”
After receiving enormous criticism from Padres fans, and bizarrely Tatis’ mother, McClure deleted the post on Thursday. Fernando Tatis Jr. has been suspended since August 12, 2022 after testing positive for Clostebol, a synthetic form of testosterone.
The Dominican shortstop will play for El Paso over the next two weeks while he completes his 80-game suspension and may be eligible to return to the Padres after April 20.
