How to watch the MLB playoffs on TV and stream on MLB TV: price, times, dates

After MLB.com has yet again raised the ire of the viewing public, we take a look at exactly how you can see all of the playoff action on TV and online

Say it ain’t so, Rob Manfred. Ok, so that isn’t so pithy as “Joe”, but it has a ring of authenticity about it. Barely eight months after rubbing every baseball fan in the world the wrong way by instigating a lockout, and then having the audacity to blame the players, Manfred and the MLB are up to their old ways again.

Despite heralding a new deal with Apple TV, ESPN, and their own proprietary MLB.com platform, which would purportedly allow international fans to see all regular and post season games with no black out, suddenly it appears that their fingers were crossed when they told that little white lie.

International baseball fans have been left incensed after shelling out hundreds of US dollars on streaming subscriptions and then finding that all MLB post season games have been blacked out.

From personal experience, I can confirm that no games are available to stream in either the UK or Spain, and through use of a VPN it has been impossible to find a country where the games are available. Yet again, baseball fans are left with a fistful of lies that Manfred and MLB have foisted on us. For a league that gives a lot of lip service to wanting to grow the game internationally, they sure have a funny way of showing it.

For those baseball fans based in the US, happily it is a little more straightforward, if not for free viewing certainly for the sheer amount of choice.

How to watch the playoffs

For those wanting to watch on television, the ALDS and ALCS will be broadcast in the US on TBS, while the NLDS, NLCS, and World Series will be broadcast on Fox and Fox Sports 1.

If you are of the streaming bent, cable customers can watch the games on the website or app of the appropriate broadcaster, while those without cable will need a subscription to fuboTV, Sling TV, Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, or DIRECTV STREAM.

Any way you cut it, the lowest subscription cost will still see you have to pay something along the lines of $35 a month although some of these streaming services do offer a free trial period.
