Juan Soto to the Mets just took a huge step forward
The heads of the organisation led by Steve Cohen met with Juan Soto in California and believe they have a chance to sign the Dominican.
Juan Soto made it clear that he would be willing to talk to all Major League Baseball teams after terminating his contract with the New York Yankees following the loss in the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
One of the teams with the most potential, and capital, to acquire the services of the Dominican baseball player, are the New York Mets, who dream of signing the Dominican.
Will Juan Soto sign for the Mets?
According to a report by the New York Post, the heads of the organisation led by owner Steve Cohen met in California with the Dominican. Those present were manager Carlos Mendoza and president of operations David Stearns. Reports say that the meeting went “extremely well” and the presentation was “very detailed”.
‘La Fiera’ dazzled in his only season with the Yankees, registering a batting average of .288 after connecting 166 hits, hitting 41 homers and driving in 109 runs. He led the American League with 128 runs scored thanks to the large number of bases on balls (129) he received.
It is important to consider that Soto is the most coveted free agent in the Major Leagues heading into the 2025 MLB season. So far, the Santo Domingo native has met with the Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays. The next visit will be this Monday by the New York Yankees.
Other teams that have shown interest in acquiring Juan Soto’s services are the San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers and Tampa Bay Rays.
