Juan Soto’s agent drops hint about MLB star’s next team decision
Soto delivered standout performances for the Yankees and now several teams are vying for his services as he enters free agency.
Juan Soto shone with the New York Yankees after joining them last offseason from the San Diego Padres. However, his contract expired following the defeat to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series, leaving him to test the waters of free agency.
The Dominican outfielder recorded big numbers in the regular season, maintaining a batting average of .288/.419/.569 with 41 home runs, 109 RBIs and 128 runs scored. In the postseason, he also starred on the diamond, with an OPS of 1.160, four home runs and a batting line of .429/.556/.857.
Will Juan Soto rejoin the Yankees?
Now that he is a free agent, there are a number of teams interested in acquiring his services: the Yankees, the New York Mets, the Boston Red Sox, the Toronto Blue Jays and the Dodgers.
Scott Boras, Soto’s agent, has now revealed that they have begun to narrow down the options that are left on the table, but that no decision is likely to be made in the immediate future.
Soto next MLB team decision “not imminent”
“We’ve had meetings with several franchises. The process of eliminating teams and doing things has begun. Juan Soto is a very methodical thinker, so we’ll see, but I don’t think there’s anything imminent in the near future,” Boras said.
It had been assumed that Soto would make a decision before or during the 2024 MLB Winter Meetings, which begin on Sunday, although Boras' comments suggest that might not necessarily be the case.
